Winery ZAGREUS Business Description

The winery is a modern complex with fully completed cycle for production beginning with the grape and finishing with a bottle of wine. It is equipped with up-to-date fermentation machinery that allows optimization and control over the processes of vinification, ripening, stabilization and bottling.
The laboratory is equipped with modern appliances allowing precise mechanical, chemical and microbiological control of the raw materials and the final output.

The vine terrain was cultivated in the autumn of 1998.
Each year it grows bigger and up to the present moment it is 1200 decares.
The wine sorts cultivated are Mavrud, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syra and Merlo.
From 2010 all vines grown under regulations of the European Union organic production.
The vine terrain is situated in one of the most generous soil regions in Bulgaria – the Plovdiv plain, which is a part of the Upper-Thracian lowland. The main color of the soil is dark cinnamon red to light red. Regarding the climate the region belongs to the trans-continental area with warm winter and hot summer.
The average annual temperature is 12.3°C that varies between 10.9°C to 13.5°C. The average period without frost is 210 days. The temperature sum for the period with average twenty-four-hour temperatures higher than 10°C is around 3800 – 4000°C.
The average annual rainfall is 515mm and varies between 550mm to 600mm.
The region is a part of the zone with the most continuous sun shining which is about 2293 hours. During July, when the grape ripens, the sun shines approximately 10 hours daily. The conditions are perfect for obtaining of grape in full commercial ripeness necessary for the production of high quality wines. |
