Bulgaria's sector-based strategy for the attraction of foreign investments was presented by Minister of Economy and Energy Traicho Traikov at a forum in Sofia Tuesday.
The strategy names the fields of the economy that the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism has identified as bearing the greatest potential for stable development that will significantly contribute to growth.
"Looking for a significant boost of GDP per capita, we have accented not on sectors that will give work to a handful of highly qualified experts, but rather on the ones that are going to create numerous jobs," stated Minister Traikov.
The strategy developed by the Ministry pinpoints the following sectors as promising: electronics, transport machinery production, the chemical industry, food and drinks industry, logistics, health and the phramaceutical industry, clean technologies and biotechnologies.
The strategy also takes into account the level and breadth of training and education of the local workforce, as well as the opportunities and needs of Bulgaria's various regions.
