Sunny beach is Bulgaria’s biggest and most popular Black Sea destination. It is situated 30 km away from Bourgas, and 3 km from the must-see ancient town of Nessebar. Sunny Beach and five more resorts – Nessebar, Obzor, Elenite, St Vlas and Ravda constitute the biggest tourist agglomerate in Bulgaria. Combined, these resort offer accommodation for around 250,000 tourists and have around 1000 restaurants. Sunny Beach is situated in a beautiful bay south from the last uplands of the Balkan Mountain. The beach line in Sunny Beach is 8 km long which is very convenient to be traveled over because of the highly developed ecologically clean inner transport – mini-trains, rikshas, etc. The resort has fine, golden-yellow sand, dunes, crystal water, even sand bottom, calm sea without tides, refreshing breezes and clean air coming down from the mountains. Sunny Beach offers various types of accommodation for more than 200,000 tourists. The construction of the resort began in communist times, in 1958, and now it is a preferred European destination. During the summer the bigger part of the tourists are from Sweden, Germany, England, Denmark, Norway, Russia and other European countries. The resort is particularly famous in the younger generation for its night life. Some of Bulgaria’s most popular night clubs and bars are in Sunny Beach. The resort offers all kinds of entertainment like live bands, music festivals, fashion-shows and numerous beach competitions. One of the most attractive installments in Sunny Beach is the highly-technological Aqua Park. Conditions for different sports are very well developed: there are various tennis courts, mini-golf courses, bowling places, many swimming pools, water slides, equipment for yachting and all kinds of water sports, horse riding, beach volleyball, parachuting, etc. There is a summer amphitheatre with capacity for over 1000 people. The average daily temperature in the resort is 27.5 C, it gets 1700 hours of sunshine from May till September. There are many high-end hotels and restaurants to satisfy the most demanding guests.
