Bulgaria and China signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation in the sphere of Information Technologies Friday.
Broadband technologies, e-government, joint research projects and support for business development are among the areas covered by the memorandum, which was signed by the Bulgarian Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski, and the Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technologies, Miao Wei, China Daily reports.
Information Technologies and communications could potentially become a key area of cooperation between Bulgaria and the Asian country, Moskovski declared upon signing the memorandum.
Two large Chinese companies, Huawei and ZTE, were invited by Miao to attend the signing ceremony. The Chinese official said he hoped they would expand their operations in the construction of Bulgaria's communication network and building intelligent information systems.
Earlier on Friday, Miao met with senior representatives of the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies (BAIT) and the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASSCOM), who put forward their ideas for cooperation with China.
