The Czech-owned electric power utility CEZ will invest BGN 1 936 000 M in a renovation of the “Metro”subfeeder, which provides electricity to the northwestern region of the Bulgaria's capital.
According to the company, the renovation will increase the safety level and will provide power for the development of new residential and business projects in the area. It will also decrease the number of breakdowns and will cut the repair time by 15 minutes.
“CEZ has always tried to invest in the most useful places for the consumers. We had to modernize the “Metro” subfeeder in order to improve the quality of the power supply and to provide capacity for new consumers,” said Jan Vavera, regional manager of CEZ for Bulgaria.
The renovation of the subfeeder will include a replacement of power transformers, building of the section “Complex distribution device”, complete reconstruction of the electricity distribution network from 6 to 20 kW voltage, installing of a system remote control, and an overhaul of the building of the subfeeder.
The major part of the equipment has been provided by the Bulgarian manufacturer of digital devices for relay protection, automation and remote controls, “Rocon Trade” PLC.
The system for remote control and the automated management of the network have already been installed in 10 of all the 25 subfeeders, managed by CEZ.
The goal of the company is to implement these systems in all its subfeeders, in order to provide and optimize the work on prevention and repair of breakdowns in the distribution network.
Currently, the “Metro” subfeeder has the capacity for connecting consumers with power up to 25 mW, 6 mW of which are already used for supplying power to customers.
After the utilization of this resource, CEZ will be able to provide additional 25 mW.
