Canning Research Institute (CANRI) - Plovdiv was established in 1962. At present it is an independent structural unit within the system of Agricultural Academy - Sofia.
CANRI has experience in international and national scientific and applied science programs and projects (INCO, 4th and 5th Framework Program of EC, the Program of American Agency for International Development, National Science Fund).
CANRI develops and transfers new technologies and products in the field of canning industry. It works on the realization of control and food safety.
The Institute has an authorized laboratory for testing of foods. In the accredited laboratory are performed physicochemical, microbiological, spectral, and sensory analyses to:
*Fruits and vegetables
*Foodstuffs and additives
*Waters and drinks
The Institute has an accredited program in ONC for training "Doctor" in the scientific specialty "Technology of fruit and vegetable preserves’’.
