Theodosii Spassov is the best shepherd's flute (kaval) player in the world. A true genius with the kaval, Theodosii Spassov has left many crowds in all parts of the world speechless after his virtuoso performances. Theodosii Spassov has toured in Europe, North and South America, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. He had concerts in USA, UK, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Turkey, Greece, Holland, Finland, Austria, Japan, Israel, India, Nepal, Brazil, Australia, and Argentina. This unique musician has released more than 25 albums, and he has composed music for motion pictures as well, some of which with Ennio Modricone and Carlo Siliotto. Other musicians he has played with include Milcho Leviev, Yldiz Ibrahimova, "Trio Bulgarka", Ivo Papazov, and the world-renown "Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares". Theodossi Spassov is the only musician in Bulgaria honored twice with the "Musician of the year" award, 1997 and 2003. In 1995, in a big Newsweek article about him, Theodosii Spassov is described as one of the most talented Eastern European musicians of all times. Newsweek also recognizes that Theodossi Spassov has created a new musical genre. Born on March 4, 1961, he started to develop his masterly talents at the famous music school in Kotel and after that he enrolls the Academy of Music and Dance in Plovdiv. Theodosii Spassov is very respected in Bulgaria because of his unique style, a mix of traditional Bulgarian folklore with classic music and jazz. He is the artistic director of the worldwide famous Philipe Koutev Ensemble of Music, Drama and Dance. Most often his music is accompanied by a drum, usually played by Stoyan Yankulov. Theodosii Spassov is incredibly recognized all over the world. One of his most prestigious awards is the award of Honorary Citizen received at Detroit flute festival in 1994. Others are the award from the International Academy of Arts in Paris in 1996; Apolo Toxophoros award for overall contribution to Bulgarian music, Best film composer from the National Film Centre Annual Awards in 2006 and Artist of Salon Des Arts in 2007.
