The village of Ribaritsa is located at the skirts of Stara Planina Mountain, near the Teteven Balkan. It is the most picturesque settlement from the 13 settlements in the region. It is situated 15 km from Teteven, 74 km southwest of Lovech and 138 km northeast from the capital city of Sofia. The village lies on the two shores of the White Vit river. Its name is not accidental - a bronze figure of a fisherman (Ribar), the symbol of the resort, can be seen standing on the top of a rock on the entrance of the village. At the beginning of the century, Ribaritsa was equally famous to Borovets as the most popular mountain resort in Bulgaria. The local population of the village accounts for 1400 people.
Ribaritsa is the starting point for climbing many of the peaks in Stara Planina Mountain – Vezhen (2198 m), Bulavanya (2043 m), Bratan (1992 m), etc. Everyone who has passed through these century-old fir-trees on his way to Vezhen chalet remains fascinated forever by the magnificence of the nature. It is amazing to take the bicycle trails where one can ride to the Roman bridge above Kostina River, feel the romance of the old hamlets, climb to the Yakova Cave and the Rocky Bridge above the village. Other places, described as heaven on Earth are the Tsarichina and the Chernia Rut Reserves, where there is an enormous diversity of birds.
Other landmarks of the Ribaritsa region are the St. Iliya Monastery, Glozhenski Monastery, Koznitsa Waterfall, Ostrich Peak (extinct volcano), Suevata Dupka Cave, and a lot of house-museums from the National Revival Period.
