The village of Leshten is one of the most attractive and authentic resorts for rural tourism in Bulgaria. It is located on the south slope of East Rodopi Mountains overlooking unforgettable view of Pirin Mountain, 200 km from Sofia.
There are fifteen restored houses in Leshten offering National Revilal Period atmosphere combined with modern comfort. The houses have vast balconies, lovely yards and restaurants where the guests can cook their own food with products of the local farms. Throughout the 4 seasons, the hospitable households from the village offer different ways of entertainment and relaxation – hunting and fishing, picnics in the mountains, swimming and balneological treatment in Ognyanovo, collecting of herbs, walks to the neighboring ethnographic resorts – Kovachevitsa, Dolen, Delchevo; and one-day trips to Rojen Monastery and Bansko. Other places to be seen are the “Dark Forrest” Reserve with its century-old beech and fir trees; the Thracian Sanctuaries “Goat’s Stone” and the “Black Rock” and the picturesque canyon of Kanina River.
The famous houses in Leshten are unique not only in architecture, but also in their interior design. During the restoration process was used not so much of fantasy, but respect towards their original appearance. The pieces of furniture used to decorate the houses are authentic, either fully preserved or restored.
