St. St. Konstantin and Elena is the oldest summer resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is also famous with its former name – Druzhba. The resort is situated 9 km from Varna and 7 from another very popular European summer resort Golden Sands. The construction of the resort started back in 1908 in close proximity to the St. St. Konstantin and Elena church. Due to the favorable natural climate conditions, the original idea of the resort was to be a sanatorium for lung diseases. There is a hot mineral water spring in the resort which is visited during the whole year because of its healing qualities. Today, the monastery is transformed into a deluxe hotel with a restaurant. There are more than 50 hotels in St. St. Konstantin and Elena, some of them are at a world-class level. The resort has a beautiful sea garden – the Sofia University Botanical Garden. Another landmark is Euxinograd royal palace, built in neo-baroque style. One of the best preserved Bulgarian mediaeval settlements, Kastritzi, was undiscovered in the archeological excavation in Euxinograd recently. There are document from the crusaders attesting to its existence in the 14th century. All kinds of different sport activities are possible in St. St. Konstanit and Elena: beach volleyball, mini golf, tennis, jet skiing, windsurfing, wake-surfing, and scuba-diving, yachting, basketball, horse riding, bowling, etc.
